DirecTV: Satellite Launch Postponed Indefinitely
SeaLaunch has postponed a planned launch of a DirecTV (DTV) satellite “to study an issue.”
SeaLaunch is a joint venture owned by Boeing (BA), RSC-Energia of Moscow; Aker ASA of Oslo; and SDO Yuzhnoye/PO Yuzhmash of Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine.
TVPredictions.com reports that the launch could be rescheduled for next week. The new satellite is intended to expand DirecTV’s ability to broadcast channels in high def.
Earlier today, I noted that a new satellite launched for DISH Network (DISH) suffered a malfunction and did not reach the intended orbit, slowing its own roll out of more HD channels.
DTV today is down 18 cents, at $24.57; DISH is down 98 cents, or 3.5%, at $26.76.
Your link back to the SeaLaunch postponement shows that everything is on schedule.
“Sea Launch is proceeding toward the launch of the DIRECTV 11 broadcast satellite on Wednesday, March 19, with liftoff planned for 3:48pm PDT (22:48 GMT), at the opening of a 58-minute window.”
DIRECTV 11 launched successfully and its signals have been successfully received on the ground! GO HDTV from DIRECTV!
i believe that none of you actually know what you are talking about when it you are talking about directv so you really dont need to talk unless you have your facts straight!
